Latest testing results show the vast majority of South Australia’s coastline has recorded zero or low levels of Karenia since February 2026. From the week beginning 2 August, zero or low levels of Karenia have been detected at all onshore sites across the metropolitan coast, Kangaroo Island, Southern Fleurieu, Coorong and Southeast.
Elevated levels of Karenia have been detected at 6 of the 32 onshore testing sites on Eyre Peninsula:
- Kirton Point Jetty, 372,900 cells per litre
- Boston Bay, 113,400 cells per litre
- Proper Bay, 98,640 cells per litre
- Port Lincoln Town Jetty, 63,250 cells per litre
- Bickers Island, 24,640 cells per litre
- Lower Eyre, 23,040 cells per litre
All other Eyre Peninsula onshore testing sites recorded zero or low levels of Karenia.
Elevated levels of Karenia have been detected at 1 of the 19 onshore testing sites on Yorke Peninsula:
- Point Turton Jetty, 69,300 cells per litre
Zero or low levels of Karenia detected at all other Yorke Peninsula onshore testing sites.
