BIA Marine Jobs, education leaders and representatives from seven Gold Coast schools recently came together to progress the development of the Coomera Marine Schools Hub, an initiative designed to strengthen connections between schools and the marine industry.
The Coomera area is home to thousands of students who attend local schools nearby, many of whom are unaware of the broad range of rewarding career opportunities available within our industry.
The Marine Schools Hub aims to change that.
Through collaboration between schools and industry, the Hub will build on structured pathways that introduce students to marine careers earlier, provide opportunities for workplace engagement, facilitate work experience placements and build on training and education pathways.
A significant outcome from the meeting was the agreement to establish a Coomera Marine Schools Hub Steering Committee, which will guide the initiative’s development and work towards welcoming the first student cohorts in 2027 in line with Certificate II pathways.
