BIA’s Marine Jobs program is partnering with TAFE Queensland to support students undertaking the VETiS funded Certificate II in Engineering Pathways (Marine) and Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Pre Prep (Marine) qualifications.
The initiative helps current 2026 students and those enrolling for Term 1, 2027 build confidence, industry knowledge and workplace readiness.
The partnership strengthens marine workforce pathways and creates more opportunities for people considering a career in the industry.
Supporting Students Beyond the Classroom
To support career outcomes beyond technical training, Marine Jobs will provide students with industry-focused activities and exposure to marine businesses, employers and workplace expectations.
Students participating in the program will receive:
- BIA Marine Safety Card training for essential safety awareness.
- Industry tours offering firsthand insight into marine career pathways.
- A graduation and employer networking event linking students with local employers and apprenticeship opportunities.
Creating Pathways to Apprenticeships
The program aims to prepare students for apprenticeships and long-term marine careers.
Certificate II qualifications provide a foundation for trade pathways including:
- Certificate III in Marine Mechanical Technology
- Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction
Building Industry Connections
Marine Jobs and TAFE Queensland have developed a support model that gives students meaningful industry exposure throughout their training.
The partnership connects students with employers and real-world workplaces, while giving marine businesses a chance to engage emerging talent and showcase career options.
