Recreational vessel standards workshop
1 August @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The Australian Recreational Boating Committee (ARBSC) and Standards Australia, with the support of the Boating Industry Association, are hosting a workshop discussing the possible extension of scope of national standards for recreational vessels in Australia.
The workshop will explore opportunities for the introduction of new standards, including vessel construction and identification standards, and to gauge industry’s support. The workshop will also consider the standardisation of implementation, management and compliance, including competency and authorisation to use standards.
National standards would apply to vessels built in and imported into Australia and would introduce minimum standards for all aspects of vessel design and construction and identification. This would have benefits for consumer safety and confidence by aligning with industry standards already in place internationally.
