As the end of the financial year approaches and winter sets in across much of Australia, we’re reminded once again of how our industry adapts with the seasons. Many boating enthusiasts are now beginning their annual migration north to Queensland’s warmer climate, and we wish everyone safe travels and a run of spectacular weather that benefits marine businesses.

The countdown is well and truly on for the Sydney Boat Show, now just eight weeks away. We’re thrilled to share that the show is at full capacity for exhibitors, and our team’s focus is firmly on ensuring this new event format delivers outstanding value for both exhibitors and visitors. Keep an eye out for more exciting announcements soon, and thank you to all the businesses that have come on board and committed to being part of this new event for greater Sydney.

Beyond the Boat Show, the BIA team remains hard at work on initiatives that support members. Significant improvements are underway for the Marine Card and Access Management System, and we are preparing to launch our new Marine Broker Accreditation program, another step in upholding professional standards across the industry. Additionally, our new Marine Careers Guide is in development to help attract and inspire the next generation of marine professionals.

Planning for November’s Sydney International ‘On Water’ Boat Show is progressing well, and as always, the BIA continues its daily work in government advocacy, setting and upholding standards, and promoting the boating lifestyle across Australia.

Finally, a heartfelt congratulations to all recipients of the recent King’s Birthday Honours. In particular, we extend our warmest congratulations to Andrew Chapman AM, President of the Marina Industries Association, who was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to youth and the marina industries. A well-deserved recognition for an outstanding contribution.

See you on the water,
Andrew Fielding
