It’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through February and it has certainly been a very busy start to 2025.
Last week’s news of the BIA’s decision to create a new Boat Show at Sydney Olympic Park in August and hold an in-water show in Darling Harbour in November has been very well received. I am delighted with the response from community and industry, and the support that has been expressed following this significant decision. We heard the call for change and we are on course to achieve just that for our members.
I look forward to sharing with you more details over the coming weeks on the exciting plans we have for both events.
This past weekend BIA had the absolute pleasure of attending and exhibiting at the 2025 Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart. What a sensational event!
The BIA exhibit attracted significant attention and interest for our work in Marine Jobs where we are dedicated to bringing marine businesses and employee talent together across Australia. This work is broad reaching and spans Marine Jobs events with schools though to advocacy to State and Federal Governments.
Some of the other highlights for me were hosting the ‘Dinghies After Dark’ event in City Hall and being joined by yachting legend, John Bertrand, as well as having the BIA Apprentice of the Year, Michaela Douglas and her family accompanying the BIA for the weekend.
It was also fantastic to see so many BIA members, meet key stakeholders such the head of Marine and Safety Tasmania, make new acquaintances and to support the wider marine industry.
See you on the water,
Andrew Fielding
