The previous eNews CEO column focused on Member Divisions, and we will be advising of a calendar of divisional meetings for 2024, post the Board Meeting on 28 November. Please keep an eye out for the calendar of dates, some meetings will be in person, some via Zoom, and we encourage members to get involved.

Today’s eNews is a re-cap of key member forums and events as held in the last couple of weeks, as well as a number of member events.

The BIA held our annual South Australia members forum at Dockyard in Port Adelaide; we had representatives from Federal and SA Government departments, including AMSA, EPA, PIRSA, and principal Government Partner Department of Infrastructure and Transport, our Sponsors, Repco and Century Batteries providing an overview of their businesses to the Forum. Thank you for members that attended, several positive deliverables for the BIA.

Congratulations to Shellharbour Marina, Les Binkin and Team, for a successful opening of the Marina, and outstanding achievement and significant investment in the Shellharbour community for creating of jobs and industry. The Marine Industry was well represented, with Marina Industries Association President, Andrew Chapman awarding the marina with the Gold Anchor, and acknowledging support from local Council and State Govt.

SisterShip Training, a trailblazing force in empowering women in maritime careers, held an exclusive event for their female maritime students on board P&O’s Pacific Adventure during its port call in Eden on Sunday.

The landmark event marked the culmination of the dedicated efforts of their female maritime students, bringing them together for a unique networking experience with industry leaders, employers, and inspiring women in maritime. BIA had the opportunity of being on the talk panel, alongside significant women in marine, resulting in an extremely good event. The BIA looks forward to assisting in the marine career space for women in marine and boating, with support from BIA’s Women in Boating division (please contact the BIA for introductions to this division).

Our Sustainability and Decarbonisation briefings are rolling out throughout Queensland, starting 27 November, please consider attending, and see the eNews story for more information.

See you on the water,

Andrew Scott, CEO
